Maple-Glazed Chicken Liver & Apple Hash with Toasted Walnuts

Ingredients

  • 300 g Chicken Livers
  • 1 Apples 1 Apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji recommended) (Honeycrisp or Fuji recommended)
  • 0.5 Red Onion
  • 50 g Walnuts
  • 2 tbsp Maple Syrup
  • 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Thyme
  • To taste Salt
  • To taste Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken livers and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  2. Add red onion to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, until softened. Add diced apples and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until slightly softened but still holds shape.
  3. Stir in maple syrup and apple cider vinegar. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1 minute, allowing the sauce to slightly thicken.
  4. Return chicken livers to the skillet. Add thyme, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat everything evenly in the sauce.
  5. Serve immediately over a bed of mixed greens or quinoa, sprinkled with toasted walnuts.
